How Has The Internet Transformed Your Life?

I met my husband on AOL....almost 8 years ago.

I would have never found Xjw's if it weren't for the internet and also all the information about the JW's. I probably would be a baptized JW now and extremely unhappy.

But besides that I haven't been into a Blockbuster Video since Netflix and I think that's fabulous! Also online banking and billpaying..and work of course.

What words and phrases do Brits and others see as 'American'?

as an american, i see words such as cheerio, blimey, bloody (when referring to something negative), loo, bugger, fag (cigarette), etc.

as chiefly british (i suppose they are).. what words and/or phrases do you consider to be chiefly american?

i'm honestly unaware of which words i use that may not be used in other english-speaking countries.

I just want to say if you think American English is confusing to people in Europe....try moving from California to Massachusetts. Sheesh!

We live near Providence Rhode Island and there is a discernable difference between the Masschusetts pronunciation and the Rho Dieland produnciation.

Example.

Worcester - Wooster

Warwick - War-Ick

And the hits just keep coming......Not to mention the people from Maine and New Hampshire with their different pronunciations.

Anything worth seeing in Boston?

i'm going to boston, ma for 5 days (6-11th of july) to a conference held at the mit.

so i'll be staying in cambridge actually, but it seems to be adjacent to boston.

on one of the days i'm supposed to give a presentation, but i should also have a day or two off for sightseeing.

We live between Boston and Providence Rhode Island. I would suggest going on the Duck Tours. You can get your tickets outside of the Prudential Center or the concierge at your Hotel should know how to hook you up.

The Duck Tours are these land/water anphibious vehicles that take you all over the city pointing out historical sites in a entertaining way. They also take you for a little boat ride in the Charles River. It's very fun and you will get to see the real Boston.

I know some people have suggested China Town...no offense but its nothing compared to China Town in San Francisco or Hawaii and it's not the safest part of Boston.

Harvard Square is a very ecclectic area. You shouldn't be bored at all. You can always go over by the fanatical born again Xtians that love to literally shout out their special Bible Talk. It's always amusing. There are a lot of nice restaurants and coffee shops and of course the Museums.

If you can get to the Isabella Stewart Gardener Museum I think its worth it. They have a very diverse collection and it is the site of one of the biggest unsolved art heists in the world. A Degas and some others were stolen.

I had really wanted to see the movie because I think that Dakota Fanning (the little blonde girl) is so cute and a great actress for her age.

Tom Cruises last few movies and especially ones associated with Steven Spielberg have really not made me happy to fork over my $8.50. I really am not a Spielberg fan since A I - that movie was incredibly emotionally upsetting to me.

And since Tom Cruise said what he did about Brooke Shields...and I have had PPD...I really cannot see his movie. I don't want to add to his Scientology Tything.

I was put on the spot to pick a name and I chose from one of my favorite songs. I love John Mayer....I know lots of teeny bopper girls love him...but I love his music amongst a ton of others. It just fits me.

I was just confused by this because I thought that JW's were supposed to avoid the dangers of the internet. So can you get DF'd if you have cybersex with someone? How can they prove it's you? Do you need two witnesses or a transcript?

JURY SERVICE

whos done it...did you want to..did you try to get out of it..did you enjoy it.... i've always wanted to...got called once but used religious stance as a way out..wish i hadnt now

Why Georgia

I had jury service and was chosen 10 years ago for an ax murder and drug dealing trial. It was gross and we had to look at a lot of pictures of things I could have lived without seeing.

I have federal jury duty on August 16th...not looking forward to that!
